Hi, I love your blog! Thanks for writing it. I don’t usually write to people but in your case I had to make a stick-my-nose-in exception because of your leg/calf cramping. I’m a chiropractor (and also a proud defiant athlete!) and I work with a lot of sports injuries. When you said your leg cramp felt better with wrapping, I knew then there’s a very good chance you need more strength in your leg muscles. If I may be so bold as to suggest, concentrating on building more leg muscle will more than likely greatly help, if not even solve, your situation.
I read in Running for Mortals by John Bingham about how the cardiovascular system improves in strength about twice as quickly as the muscular system. That made so much sense. Because that’s what it feels like…like my leg muscles aren’t keeping up with my heart and lungs, and definitely not with my head. Do you have any ideas for adding that strength? Or is it just a matter of continuing to run/walk and waiting for it to happen?
